New heavy vehicle route in place as
Boulder Creek Wind Farm works resume

13 January 2026

Construction activity has re-started at the Boulder Creek Wind Farm in January after pausing over the festive season break.

The wind farm is being constructed on the ranges between Mount Morgan and Westwood, approximately 40km south-west of Rockhampton, and is owned by Aula Energy and CS Energy in a 50/50 joint venture.

Since 9 January 2026, heavy vehicles have been using a new temporary transport route to provide safer access for trucks turning on and off the Capricorn Highway when travelling to and from the project site.

The new route follows community feedback to create safer traffic conditions and has been approved by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Rockhampton Regional Council.

Heavy vehicles will now turn on and off the highway at the Westwood General Store and use a new access track to Coverley Street that connects to Arthur Street.

The new route will remain in place until the purpose-built, permanent route via Roger Street is completed around mid-2026.

Boulder Creek Wind Farm would like to thank local residents for their patience over the past six months as project roadworks and construction activity brought increased traffic activity to the area.

The Boulder Creek Wind Farm is committed to delivering this project safely and continues to welcome and act on any feedback received to keep safety at the forefront as it operates within the Westwood and Mount Morgan communities.

To help minimise dust, water trucks will continue to run along Roger Street, Coverley Street, Arthur Street and Flaggy Creek Road during construction hours.

The main activities currently underway include civil earthworks, cycad translocations, external road upgrades and the Powerlink Queensland switching station bench.

The Boulder Creek Wind Farm is being constructed in Central Queensland on pastoral land that is predominantly used for cattle grazing, which will continue during the construction and operations phases of the wind farm. When completed, the wind farm will consist of 38 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 228MW.

The Boulder Creek Wind Farm welcomes feedback and questions from the community.
